Lorcana The First Chapter: Market Update October 2026 | TCJournal

Three years after Disney Lorcana's debut, The First Chapter has quietly done something most first sets never manage: it has climbed past its launch-hype peak. An English booster box now carries a TCG…

The First Chapter hit local game stores on August 18, 2023 and mass retail on September 1, and it sold out almost everywhere. Ravensburger responded quickly: it added a fresh wave of hobby-store product that fall, then fast-tracked a full reprint of booster packs and starter decks that reached North America by the 2023 holiday season, with boxes back on shopDisney by December 22. Ravensburger said from the start there would be no first-edition stamp, so reprinted cards are indistinguishable from the originals apart from a handful of errata fixes. Since then, there have been multiple First Chapter print runs up until earlier this year. The set rotated out of Core Constructed play when Fabled launched in September 2025, and Fabled itself revisited many fan-favorite cards from the first four sets as part of a new release instead of restocking the old one. Ravensburger has not announced any further First Chapter reprints.

Three Years, One Round Trip and a Breakout

The booster box has taken collectors on a ride. It peaked near $402 during the 2023 shortage, then crashed about 61% to a low of roughly $156 in early 2024 once the reprint landed, settling just above its $143.76 retail price. By late 2024 it had recovered to about $217, and through the first half of 2026 it climbed steadily from around $310 to $330. The last few months brought the breakout: today's $460 market price means a box bought at the post-reprint bottom has nearly tripled. The First Chapter is the textbook example of reprint risk, but also of how a first set's "alpha" premium can survive it.

Sealed Product Today

As of October 27, the English First Chapter booster box carries a TCGplayer market price of $459.60, or about $19.15 per pack across its 24 packs. A sealed four-box booster box case trades around $2,000 to $2,125, a slight premium over four loose boxes for buyers who want untouched case-fresh product. The single sleeved booster pack sits at $19.43, nearly identical to the per-pack cost of a box, while a loose unsleeved pack is about $17.58. Rounding out the sealed lineup, the Illumineer's Trove trades near $362, up from its $49.99 retail price, and the sleeved booster pack art bundle (set of three) sits around $57.

The Big Three: Elsa, Mickey and Stitch

The chase lives in the set's 12 Enchanted cards. Community opening data puts an Enchanted at roughly one per 96 packs, or about one per four-box case, which means most single boxes contain none. With 12 Enchanted cards sharing that slot, any specific one works out to roughly one per 1,150 packs. At the top sits Elsa - Spirit of Winter (Enchanted, 207/204) at about $953 raw, the most valuable card in the set by a wide margin. PSA has graded roughly 3,950 copies, with about 2,465 PSA 10s, and recent PSA 10 sales have landed around $2,750 to $3,075. Second is Mickey Mouse - Wayward Sorcerer (Enchanted, 208/204) at about $339 raw, with about 2,116 copies graded across PSA and CGC and 1,222 of them at a 10. Third is Stitch - Carefree Surfer (Enchanted, 206/204) at about $259, with about 2,298 copies graded across PSA and CGC and 1,176 tens. Elsa alone is now worth more than two sealed booster boxes.

The Rest of the Top 10 and Top 20

The rest of the top 10 is all Enchanted, and it's remarkably tightly packed. Simba - Returned King ($215), Mickey Mouse - Artful Rogue ($212), Belle - Strange but Special ($198), Tinker Bell - Giant Fairy ($194) and Aurora - Dreaming Guardian ($189) sit within about $26 of each other, followed by Genie - On the Job ($151) and Maui - Hero to All ($130). The last two Enchanted cards open the next tier, with Aladdin - Heroic Outlaw at about $128 and Hades - King of Olympus at about $122. After that the value drops off sharply to the top foil Legendaries and Super Rares: Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Tailor (about $83), Rapunzel - Gifted with Healing ($45), Maleficent - Monstrous Dragon ($45), Hades - Infernal Schemer ($29), John Silver - Alien Pirate ($24), Ursula - Power Hungry ($21), Gantu - Galactic Federation Captain ($21) and Ariel - Spectacular Singer ($18). In other words, every card worth more than $100 in this set is an Enchanted, which is exactly why the case-level pull rate matters so much to sealed value.

Where Lorcana Ranks Today

Lorcana is no longer the upstart that briefly pushed past Yu-Gi-Oh! in 2024, but it remains firmly in the top tier. On TCGplayer's quarterly rankings by total sales value, Lorcana finished sixth in Q3 2026, behind Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Riftbound, after climbing from eighth in Q1 to fifth in Q2 on the strength of Wilds Unknown. That's still ahead of the Gundam Card Game, Union Arena and Dragon Ball Super Fusion World. The movement around it shows how crowded the middle of the market has become: Lorcana and Riftbound swapped the fifth and sixth spots between Q2 and Q3.

What It Means for Lorcana

The First Chapter's comeback is more than a sealed-product story; it's proof that Lorcana's foundation is solid. The game is built on one of the strongest IPs on the planet, and Ravensburger has spent the past year shaking things up to keep it relevant. Fabled introduced the Iconic rarity in September 2025, a chase tier above Enchanted that immediately produced four-figure cards. Next up, Into the Inkdark launches February 12, 2027 with Lorcana's first Collector Boosters: 12-card all-foil packs with better Enchanted and Iconic odds, sold through Ravensburger Play Hub stores, its online store and select Disney locations. They'll also carry the new Illustrious rarity, six serialized cards per set limited to just 23 copies each. In a market where Riftbound, Gundam and One Piece are all fighting for shelf space, those moves show Lorcana fighting for its spot, and the rising value of its very first set suggests collectors still believe it belongs there.
