Honestly, I'm surprised Lorcana has just recently started to pop off. With a massive archive of legendary Disney IP characters that will only continue to grow, Lorcana has no shortage of longevity and is already a household name globally. The game is coming up on its third-year anniversary in August 2026 , which is a fantastic milestone. The path to get here has been rocky with intense ups and downs—mostly downs over the past year, with most booster boxes hovering around the $100 mark, with the rare exceptions being early heavyweights like First Chapter and Fabled .
However, before jumping in headfirst, it’s crucial to recognize the risk . Even though Lorcana is currently on a strong upward swing, the core collector base and overall demand are still significantly smaller compared to giants like Pokémon or even One Piece. Furthermore, publisher Ravensburger is known for aggressively reprinting sets when things get hot. Just look at the First Chapter , which has received multiple print waves, including a massive reprint just a few short months ago. I would be incredibly wary about buying into the extreme highs of some of the bigger sets; a heavy reprint combined with low demand can completely change those premium prices.
Right now, the singles market is going absolutely crazy. We are seeing confirmed sales showing massive four-figure buys for top-tier cards, and the current low population reports from grading companies are justifying these sky-high valuations. But it's important not to get caught up in the FOMO and tie up all your investment funds in a single, risky play. Remember that $1,000 card you buy today needs to hit a staggering $2,000 for you to 2x your money.
Our suggestion at this point in time is to pivot. Even though singles pricing seems to offer the most immediate, flashy returns, it's highly volatile. Many of the market's biggest whales are already buying out these top cards, and there are undoubtedly thousands of singles currently tied up in grading queues. When those slabs finally return to the market, the population could be much higher than initially thought, tanking the value especially if buyer demand is not there to meet it. Because singles are shooting up so quickly, sealed product prices are getting left behind —and this is exactly where your safest, best bang-for-your-buck opportunity comes in.
Eventually, these massive singles chase values will be fully recognized, and investors will inevitably pivot back to sealed product when they can't acquire singles without paying an arm and a leg. Right now, booster boxes have broken past the $100 barrier, and hitting the $150 barrier leaves a massive runway for growth. Instead of paying $300 or more for a modern Pokémon booster box, you can secure a $120 Disney Lorcana box today. A $120 box with incredibly difficult hits could easily become the $400+ booster box of tomorrow as those chase card values continue to climb.
Buying sealed right now is the perfect low-risk entry. You are inherently protected from the damage of future reprints because your buy-in price is already so low, while still factoring in massive room for the underlying singles to rise. Some of the best sealed boxes to target right now are the later sets released during the market dip. It is highly likely that Ravensburger short-printed these recent sets when Lorcana's demand stalled over the last year, especially when compared to the massively printed first three sets from when the initial hype was at its peak.
Overall, Disney Lorcana seems to be here to stay. If this current market momentum follows a pattern similar to One Piece, these sub-$200 boxes may easily double your investment by next year. The window to buy in is still open, but just exercise caution, especially if you are navigating a TCG you may be unfamiliar with.
